Healing With Red Raspberry Leaves

Healing With Red Raspberry Leaves

Red raspberry leaves are one of my all time favorite herbs! They are high in vitamin C, E, A and some B complex. They are also high in minerals such as calcium, iron, zinc, phosphorus and potassium. The leaves have astringent and antiseptic properties, which reduce inflammation, making it a perfect remedy for conjunctivitis, mastitis, sore throats, wounds and so much more. Red raspberry leaves also boost the immune system, and are great for fighting infections.

As far as women are concerned, this herb is truly a gift! It builds tissue, preventing tearing of the cervix, and of the uterus during birth. It prevents hemorrhaging during labor, regulates the contraction of the uterine muscles during labor, and reduces Braxton Hicks contractions prior to birth. The leaves are very high in iron and enrich early colostrum found in mother’s milk. It also cleanses and prepares breasts for a pure milk supply for the nursing babe, by cleansing and purifying the blood. Raspberry is also fantastic for morning sickness, as it helps keep hormones in balance. Studies have shown that consuming raspberry leaf tea during the entire pregnancy is safe, because it does not cause contractions or make them stronger, but merely helps to enhance their effectiveness.

For use in fighting infections, you can make the leaves into a tea and use internally or as a fomentation. At the first sign of illness, whether it be a cold or flu bug, drink copious amounts of red raspberry leaf tea, distilled water and nothing else. When we fast our bodies can cleanse themselves of toxins that they have been holding onto for years, thus significantly speeding up the healing process. Raspberry leaves also rid the body of excess mucus, which is essential in cleansing and nourishing the body.

When making medicinal teas it is essential to use only distilled water. Distilled water is H2O and nothing else, making this water, water in it’s purest form. You definitely don’t want to be putting harsh chemicals, heavy metals or inorganic minerals into your body, by using any other kinds of water. Even the highest quality filter can’t get rid of every single toxin. Another important point is to never use a microwave to heat up your tea, as this adds free radicals, which are extremely harmful to the body. You also don’t want to put your herbs in the water while it’s boiling, as this kills the crucial oils that contain all the healing properties.

A Helpful Guide to Making Medicinal Tea’s:

Fill either a glass or stainless steal pot with distilled water….turn heat to high till the water is boiling, or close to boiling……remove from heat….put raspberry leaves in either a tea ball, muslin cloth, or other natural fiber…..tie the top and put the herbs in the water once the water has stopped rippling…..steep for 15-20 minutes……remove tea ball and add raw honey to taste if desired;)
